We’ve been photographing boudoir sessions for over a decade now, and hundreds of women from every walk of life have stood in front of our cameras. Moms, grandmothers, nurses, teachers, CEOs, small business owners. Each woman comes in with her own story, her own reason for doing a session, and her own set of nerves.
We’ve seen it all: excitement, butterflies, laughter, even a few tears. And through every single session, one truth keeps shining through. Boudoir photography isn’t really about the photos.
It’s about rediscovering yourself.
It’s about realizing that you’ve been strong, beautiful, and enough this whole time. You just needed a little reminder.
Over the years we’ve learned a lot about what makes these sessions powerful. So today, we’re pulling back the curtain and sharing the five biggest secrets we’ve learned after years of photographing women here in Minnesota.
Grab your coffee, or maybe a mimosa, and settle in. This one’s from our hearts.
We hear it all the time:
“I just need to lose ten pounds first.”
“Once I tone my arms.”
“After I get a tan.”
Here’s the truth. Every woman says that. Every single one.
But none of those things ever mattered.
Boudoir photography isn’t about fixing anything. It’s about celebrating everything.
When you walk into our studio, you’re not being judged. You’re being seen. You’re being reminded that the stretch marks, freckles, laugh lines, and curves are all part of your story. They’re proof that you’ve lived, loved, carried, laughed, and overcome.
We’ve photographed women who told us they didn’t even want to look in a mirror before their session, and they left saying, “I didn’t know I could look like that.”
They didn’t look different. They looked like themselves. Confident. Relaxed. Radiating joy.
That’s the magic of boudoir photography. You don’t need to look perfect. You just need to show up. We’ll take care of the rest.
If we had a dollar for every time someone said, “I don’t know how to pose,” we’d be sipping piña coladas on a beach somewhere.
Listen, nobody knows how to pose. That’s literally our job.
Elizabeth will guide you through every movement, from where to place your hands to how to tilt your chin. And if you’re worried about feeling awkward, that’s half the fun.
We’ll say things like, “Okay, now pop that hip,” or “Pretend you’re texting your crush but you know you’re hot,” and suddenly you’re laughing, relaxed, and glowing without even realizing it.
That’s the moment we love. The shift from nervous to empowered.
By the end, clients always say, “I can’t believe how easy that was,” or “I thought I’d be stiff and weird, but it felt so natural.”
Experience matters. After years of photographing women of every shape, size, and comfort level, we’ve learned how to make you feel comfortable, confident, and absolutely stunning.
You don’t have to know what to do. That’s why we’re here. You bring yourself, and we’ll handle the rest.
Here’s a little truth bomb. Your boudoir session doesn’t have to include lingerie at all.
Yes, lace and silk are beautiful, but some of our favorite photos ever have been taken in t-shirts, sweaters, jerseys, and even Care Bear pajamas. (You know who you are.)
The goal isn’t to dress sexy. It’s to feel confident.
For some women that means a sultry bodysuit. For others it’s their partner’s button-down or a cozy oversized sweater.
Confidence doesn’t come from fabric. It comes from you.
We’ve seen women rock cowboy boots, jerseys, satin robes, and jean jackets, and every single one of those sessions was powerful because it felt authentic.
Boudoir isn’t one-size-fits-all. It’s about showing who you are.
If you’re unsure what to wear, don’t stress. We help with that too. From wardrobe guides to Pinterest boards to outfit planning during your pre-session consult, we make sure you walk in excited and prepared.
We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve seen a client walk out of our studio different than she walked in.
It’s not that she looks different. It’s that she feels different.
There’s this moment in almost every session, somewhere between laughter and confidence, when something shifts. The nerves fade. The posture changes. The sparkle appears.
She starts to see herself the way we see her.
That’s the transformation.
It’s not just the lighting or the posing, even though we obsess over both. It’s the energy. It’s the permission to finally be you.
One client told us,
“I came in hoping for pretty photos. What I left with was a new way of seeing myself.”
That one still gives us chills.
Because this isn’t about vanity. It’s about value. It’s about giving yourself the same love and appreciation you pour into everyone else.
When you finally see your images, the genuine smiles, the fierce stares, the soft glances, you realize that woman has been there all along.
If we could give one piece of advice to every woman who’s ever said, “Maybe someday,” it would be this. Do it now.
Don’t wait to lose weight.
Don’t wait for the right relationship, the right milestone, or the perfect season.
The perfect time is when you decide you’re worth celebrating, right now.
We’ve photographed women for weddings, anniversaries, birthdays, promotions, and heartbreaks. But some of our favorite sessions are the “just because” ones.
Because you don’t need a reason. You just need permission.
There’s something so freeing about saying, “I’m doing this for me.”
That’s when the experience becomes life-changing.
One of our clients said,
“I kept waiting for the right time, and finally realized the right time was when I stopped waiting.”
Exactly.
When you decide to do a boudoir session for yourself, not for anyone else, that’s when the real magic happens.
We’ve never had a woman say, “I wish I hadn’t done that.”
But we’ve heard plenty say, “I wish I’d done it sooner.”
The laughter, the confidence, the sparkle in your eyes when you see your photos, that feeling stays with you.
Your boudoir experience becomes a love letter to yourself, proof that you are powerful, radiant, and deserving of celebration right now, exactly as you are.
After all these years photographing boudoir in Minnesota, if there’s one thing we know for sure, it’s this.
Every woman deserves to feel confident and celebrated.
You don’t have to change a thing. You don’t have to be anyone else.
You already are everything our camera loves.
So if these words are tugging at your heart, maybe it’s time.
Maybe it’s your turn to see what we see in you.
If you’re ready to rediscover your confidence, celebrate your story, and finally see yourself the way you deserve, we’d love to photograph you.
